The Paradox of Putin’s third term
An editorial in The Financial Times sets out the fundamental paradox of Vladimir Putin’s third term as president. The article contends that to succeed in this third term, Putin must start dismantling, or at least loosening, what he put in place in his first two terms in office. Unless we start to see a new Putin, the numbers of the protesters will only swell.
